Once again, the Tannat Viejo from H Stagnari received the highest honor in a highly recognized international competition. Other wines also received awards: the AMAT from Carrau a gold medal, and wines from Bertolini & Broglio, Filgueira and Pisano won silver medals.
The delegation of Wines of Uruguay led by its manager, Gustavo Magariños Parodi, consisted of nine wineries that carried to British lands an important range of products. Good results were achieved despite the London Fair lacked the brilliance of the previous edition. Bodegas del Uruguay sought their comments and also shows an exceptional gallery of exclusive photos.
Next Saturday, June 5, the thirteen wineries associated in Uruguay Wine Tours will open their doors to taste one of the more traditional and perfect pairings: lamb and tannat. The new call is expected to reach the level of public who gathered under the same proposal one year ago.
As part of the activities related to the LIWF, some of the wineries took the opportunity to arrive some days earlier and take part in some important events. There was little rest but excellent results, either for the wineries as well as for Wines of Uruguay UK, the importer of Uruguayan wines to the United Kingdom, and responsible for the organization of all of them. The outcome could not have been better.
In 2010, the show will be extended to three days during which 1200 visitors are expected. It will take place on July 23, 24 and 25 in the Ballroom at the Resort and will consist of 42 stands among which the presence of Uruguayan wines will be highlighted.

Wines of Uruguay will be visiting Europe for the second time this year, now taking our wines to the UK. The prestigious London International Wine Fair, which celebrates its 30th. anniversary in 2010, will bring together 1,340 producers from five continents. Ariano, Carrau, Bouza, Irurtia, Juanicó, Marichal, Pisano, De Lucca and Traversa will represent Uruguay in the English capital. Besides, they will hold a charitable dinner at the British Uruguayan Society.
The winery located in Atlántida invites to a lunch where Chef Newton Figueiredo, arriving from Sao Paulo, Brazil, will cook special dishes to accompany the wines of the house. The event will take place next Saturday, May 15.
While new international competitions take place, the more traditional ones gain prestige as indisputable points of reference taking into account the status given by their judges to the winning products. And Bouza Bodegas Boutique hardly ever returns empty-handed. It has just won three new awards.
The winery owned by the Etcheverry Family will offer a superb dinner to be held on May 14, where the latest version of its Sauvignon Blanc under the label Catamayor will be introduced, and will give a bottle of this new product as present to the readers of Bodegas del Uruguay who participate in it.
