As every year since six years ago, on next September 2nd. the Argentine Wine Forum will become the appropriate place to reflect on the future of the wine industry, both from the standpoint of public policy and private management. Continuing its wine-tasting activities, the chocolate and liquor store located on Sarandí Street announced for July 15 a tasting of national wines from Casa Filgueira, and on July 22 another one with the winery Juan Toscanini e Hijos.
Following the dictates and trends imposed by the international market, Antigua Bodega Stagnari has relaunched its white and rosé wines of its lines Del Pedregal and Prima Donna with screw cap.
With the support and organization of the Instituto Nacional de Vitivinicultura -INAVI- (National Wine Institute), there has been organized a second Meeting with the Wines of Uruguay. This is the first course addressed to the general public whose theme will aim to "The diversity of wine: Causes and Consequences."
Again two Uruguayan wines have received awards in VinAgora 2010, the international wine competition held annually in Hungary and involving massive Central European wines.
The fifth edition of this event will be held on Friday, July 16, at 8 PM in the Ballroom of the Sheraton Punta Carretas hotel. It is expected that this edition will exceed the number of visitors in previous editions, and increase the charity funds that will be in aid of the school complex Jacobo Varela.
On June 11, Corchos, a restaurant in the corner of Bartolomé Mitre and 25 de Mayo opened its doors. It proposes a neat combination of local dishes with a selection of Uruguayan wines from ten first-line wineries, aiming at the local public who allow themselves to enjoy a glass of wine at lunchtime and tourists who cannot leave the country without a dose of the well-known tannat.
Once again, the Tannat Viejo from H Stagnari received the highest honor in a highly recognized international competition. Other wines also received awards: the AMAT from Carrau a gold medal, and wines from Bertolini & Broglio, Filgueira and Pisano won silver medals.
The delegation of Wines of Uruguay led by its manager, Gustavo Magariños Parodi, consisted of nine wineries that carried to British lands an important range of products. Good results were achieved despite the London Fair lacked the brilliance of the previous edition. Bodegas del Uruguay sought their comments and also shows an exceptional gallery of exclusive photos.
Next Saturday, June 5, the thirteen wineries associated in Uruguay Wine Tours will open their doors to taste one of the more traditional and perfect pairings: lamb and tannat. The new call is expected to reach the level of public who gathered under the same proposal one year ago.
