Innovations in the wine industry are unstoppable. Packaging is among the items that have undergone frequent changes in recent times, in particular as regards bottle closures. After long discussions, the traditional cork has been replaced by other synthetic or metallic materials, applied particularly in the case of the bottles of young wines, fresh and of prompt consumption.
This is a way to preserve the product of some undesirable effects of the cork, as the bouchonné (cork taint, in French) produced by the presence of TCA (2,4,6 trichloroanisole and other derivatives), a component of a microscopic mold that may develop in the body of the cork.

During the last decade the screw cap has gained high reputation and popularity, although it was created in France in 1959 and developed in the 70's in Australia, it was only applied to common table wines and has just started to be accepted in fine wines since 2000 in New Zealand.
Antigua Bodega Stagnari is entering this trend: it has introduced the screw cap closure to the wines of its lines of fine white and rosé wines Del Pedregal and Prima Donna, in order to provide greater practicity to consumers and avoid disruptions in these wines that precisely must maintain their fresh and fruity character.
They will be found as from next July in supermarkets, liquor stores and specialty shops in their wines Del Pedregal Selección Chardonnay, Del Pedregal Seleccion Cabernet Cabernet (rosé) and Prima Donna Sauvignon Blanc, and soon will also be exported to the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Belgium and Panama.
