As in 2009, with the support of the Sociedad de Criadores de Corriedale del Uruguay, the Wine Tourism Association of Uruguay (ATEU) invites to visit the wineries members which will carry out a gastronomic festival where Tannat wine and lamb in various culinary preparations will be paired on Saturday, June 5. Completing each event, the public will also enjoy music shows and other activities.
Tannat, our flagship variety, expresses in Uruguay as anywhere else in the world with body, intense color and strong personality. Also, the largest number of Corriedale sheep worldwide are in our country, where 70% of stocks are sheep of this breed, well known for its meat quality, whose quality is achieved through a diet based on natural pastures and translating into a unique flavor. Evidently, an outstanding pairing.
In Castillo Viejo, the event will start at 12:00 and will consist of a menu of barbecued lamb accompanied by grilled vegetables and snacks, ending with an assortment of desserts. The wines served will be Catamayor Tannat, Tannat Reserve, Family Reserve and Vieja Parcela Tannat. The cost per person is $ 650 uruguayan pesos, with advanced payment and reservation.
Casa Filgueira invites to take a tour of their facilities, where the public may sightsee and learn the treatment given in this winery to the Tannat grape, and taste four types of wines from this variety, including the last harvest still in the ellaboration process. The lamb will be prepared following several authentic creole recipes, and participants may choose the combination of their choice, between the wines and dishes. The event starts at 10:30 AM and the cost per person is $ 630 uruguayan pesos, only with reservation.
Other wineries members of Uruguay Wine Tours (Alto de la Ballena, Stagnari Antigua Bodega, Bodega Bouza, Bodegas Carrau, Bodega De Lucca, Bodega Marichal, Bodega Santa Rosa, Establecimiento Juanicó, Vinos Finos H. Stagnari, Viña Varela Zarranz, Viñedo de los Vientos) will also participate in this event with different proposals. Get to know them in www.uruguaywinetours.com.
