Wine Tours
Wine estates open their doors to all visitors
Uruguay is one more of the great wine producing countries that opens the doors of its wineries to visitors eager to take part in a unique experience for their senses. The reconversion of the wineries, together with the industry commitment to produce fine wines, made it possible.

Lately, tourism devoted to exploring certain grape and wine areas through the visit to its wineries and wine tastings has gained a strong impulse, mainly in those countries where wine production has an important development and can be considered as an industry with a strong impact on its economy.

The industrial reconversion carried out by the wineries of Uruguay some years ago, engaging in the production and export of fine wines, has added attractive to the wineries and enabled the raise of interest for wine tourism or enotourism under its umbrella.

With focus on this development, a group of wineries decided to join their efforts creating an association called ATEU (Association of Enologic Tourism of Uruguay) whose purpose is to make known their activity, with manufacturing plants spread around the departments of Montevideo, Canelones, Maldonado, Colonia and Rivera, in an organic manner.

Currently the wineries member of the association are: Alto de la Ballena, Bouza Bodega Boutique, Bodega Reinaldo De Lucca, Bodega Marichal e Hijo Ltda., Bodegas y Viñedos Santa Rosa S.A., Bodegas Carrau, Bodegas Castillo Viejo S.A., Antigua Bodega Stagnari, Bodega Varela Zarranz, Viñedos y Bodega Filgueira, Vinos Finos H. Stagnari Ltda., Establecimiento Juanicó and Viñedo de los Vientos.

More information of the activities performed by the Association can be found in its webpage: Los caminos del vino.
