  • Luis Bertolini
  • "It is hard to introduce our wines in restaurants because it is a very captive market"
  • Bodegas del Uruguay visited the winery Bertolini & Broglio, one of the youngest in the west of the country located near the city of Salto, although geographically it belongs to the district of Paysandú. There we were received by Luis Bertolini, one of its owners, who invited us to stroll around the estate of 91 acres, and who gave evidence that, despite having no professional training in winemaking, as he is by profession a lawyer, he can respond fluently to our questions on several subjects, from vineyard management to the industry's current situation.
  • Carolina Villarrubia
  • "There are very good opportunities to increase exports to the U.S. market"
  • A short time ago we were surprised to receive an excellent newsletter on Uruguayan wines with a modern graphic design and eye-catching pictures that invited reading. Moreover, it also had interesting, up-to-date and accurate content about Uruguay and its wine industry. Certainly, a very well made tool for the specific promotion of several wineries and some of their wines. The source of this publication was the Consulate of Uruguay in Miami. We focused our journalistic curiosity there, to discover the impeccable work done from this small spot of our land in the southern appendix of the United States of America.
  • Juan Andrés Marichal
  • "Uruguay has wines of excellent quality and the Argentine consumer is more open to order imported wines"
  • During a recent visit by Juan Andrés Marichal to Buenos Aires, Bodegas del Uruguay was invited to attend a wine tasting for professionals and friends at the charming Mansion Vitraux Boutique Hotel, in the heart of San Telmo neighborhood, more precisely in its Wine Bar that under the management of Sommelier Martin Krawczyk Pardo hoards enviable labels in its cellar, and took the opportunity to inquire on a series of matters ranging from the activity of the family winery to the public office that he has taken over as VP in the National Wine Institute, INAVI.
  • Diego Pomi Farriols
  • "For Traversa, the Asian market is more than a bet, it is already our main market"
  • Within hours of leaving for China, Diego Pomi in an exclusive interview talked with Bodegas del Uruguay about Grupo Travesa, the company where he heads the department of Foreign Trade. Despite having been the leading exporter of Uruguayan fine wines in 2010 the winery has a low profile, while it opens roads into new markets, hoping that other wineries follow suit. He also spoke about his vocation and the difficult balance between work and family life.
  • Monica Rossi
  • "My Suites is an incredible showcase for Uruguayan wine"
  • On June 21, with the presence of the President of Uruguay, José Mujica, and other high national authorities, businessmen and professionals, the first theme hotel on wines of Uruguay was officially inaugurated. This quality marks a fundamental difference with other hotels. Bodegas del Uruguay interviewed its General Manager, Mónica Rossi, who revealed how did they came up with the idea, what are its characteristics, its benefits for guests and their comments, which show the promising beginnings of My Suites in the neighborhood of Pocitos.
  • Eduardo Lanza
  • "We are a country more open to the world than others, that is why we are seduced by foreign wines"
  • During the VI Salón Internacional del Vino, the imported wine fair held days ago in Montevideo, Bodegas del Uruguay interviewed Eduardo Lanza, a pioneer and outstanding professional in communicating the wine and its industry in the country, currently through the association he presides, Sociedad de Catadores, and in the newspaper El Observador. Lanza, who despite being a Chemical Engineer, defines himself more as a demanding consumer, talks about the fair and the relationship of the Uruguayan people with imported wine, a controversial issue these days.
  • Fernando Pettenuzzo
  • "This year's harvest in Uruguay produced grapes of excellent quality"
  • The President of the Uruguayan Oenologists Association gives us an exclusive report on the Harvest 2011 which has just finished and is considered to be "historic". He also anticipated information on the contest Tannat to the World to be held in November. But basically, he speaks on the meaning of the work of the winemaker, the feelings aroused by this profession, and the dreams that remain to become true.
  • Mariela Zubizarreta (Part II)
  • A trunk full of memories and anecdotes of the past and present
  • In the previous edition, Bodegas del Uruguay focused the interview to Mariela Zubizarreta on the professional aspect. Now, we show a video where she tours us around the facility and introduces its current lines of products while telling us new anecdotes and stories.
  • Mariela Zubizarreta
  • "We have to bet on a close channel with the consumer"
  • She is one of the owners of the winery, an independent professional and also Tourism Director of the District of Colonia. Tourism has grown enormously there, and from the beautiful historic city of Colonia del Sacramento, activity expands inwards with a marked growth in visitors due to the hard communication work being made. As an entrepreneur in the wine sector, Mariela Zubizarreta reveals her point of view on how to promote wine tourism in the region, and extends it to the entire Uruguay.
